Welcome to Grandma’s Kitchen
This is where the stories live.
The handwritten recipes. The meals that stretched a dollar. The Sunday dinners, holiday tables, and dishes we still make because someone we loved made them first.
Grandma’s Kitchen is about more than food. It’s about the women who taught us to cook without measuring, the family stories told around the table, and the recipes we’re determined not to lose.
Some recipes will be exactly as we remember them. Some may be recreated from memories, old notes, and a whole lot of taste-testing.
Pull up a chair. There’s always room for one more at this table. ❤️
Recipes. Stories. Memories. Legacy.

Grandma Vi’s Old-Fashioned Hamburger & Potatoes
Simple food. Good memories. Nothing fancy—just the way Grandma made it. ❤️
Grandma Vi didn’t need a cabinet full of seasonings to make something everybody remembered. This was one of those simple, old-fashioned meals made with what she had on hand—hamburger, potatoes, onion, salt and pepper.
And when Grandma said simple, she meant simple. I learned that lesson when I decided to season hamburgers one time. Grandma Vi took one look at them and refused to eat them. 😂
Some recipes aren’t special because they’re fancy. They’re special because they take you right back to somebody’s kitchen.
Ingredients: 1 lb ground beef, 5–6 medium potatoes peeled and cut into chunks, 1 medium onion chopped, water to cover, salt and black pepper to taste.
Directions: Place the raw ground beef, potatoes and onion together in a large pot. Add enough water to cover. Season simply with salt and black pepper. Bring to a boil, then cook until the potatoes are tender and the hamburger is completely cooked through, breaking the meat apart as it cooks. Drain off most of the liquid, leaving just a little behind so everything stays moist. Serve hot.

No fancy seasonings. Grandma wouldn’t have approved anyway. 😂
